Poems to Songs have teamed up with Hugh James Hardman, a Singer-Songwriter. Hugh James Hardman started playing piano at the ripe old age of five.  He developed his bold, introspective, everyman's approach to writing while growing up in Garwood, New Jersey, in a house that reflected the humor and hard work ethic of his eccentric parents.  Let's face it, when your last name is Hardman, and your father was born in Disappointment Valley, Colorado, you learn pretty quickly to take nothing for granted.

Hugh James Hardman - Bio

The Square Root (Biography) of... HUGH JAMES HARDMAN

Hardman honed his craft over the years writing for artists like Teen Queen “Tiffany”, Latin pop divas “Las Triplets”, and most recently, country heartthrob, “Steve Holy”.  Hardman has also lent his piano chops to several recordings and live performances for artists such as Doobie Brother, Michael McDonald, Tiffany, BJ Thomas, Aaron Lines and Robert Townsend. Hardman has also performed throughout the U.S., South America, & Asia.

Hugh’s songs can be heard on Television and in Film, including the Disney remake of Where the Red Fern Grows, starring rockers, Dave Matthews & Kris Kristofferson. You'll also find his songs in A Promise to Carolyn, starring Sissy Spacek & Delta Burke, and the Meatloaf starrer, Rustin.

Hugh’s self-produced album Black & White World on his own Hardman House Records, is a soundtrack for modern life; offering thoughtful lyrics on issues such as racial harmony, parenting, love and loss.  Hardman’s piano driven instrumentation, carries memorable melodies, with a soulful voice that speaks to the heart and mind.

“In the context of the record, this is a group of songs that has a lot to offer to a lot of different people. Music makes you feel, & lyrics make you think”.

Hardman is in good company with subtle comparisons to country artist Phil Vassar and Bruce Hornsby.  The latter should come as no surprise since, Hardman and Hornsby had the same piano teachers at The University of Miami.

After earning his music degree from U of M, he eventually settled in Los Angeles, where he currently resides with his wife and two children.  While developing his musical resume, Hardman made a living as a Decorative Painter working for such High-end clientele as Sheryl Crow, Neil Diamond and Dave Navarro of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
